Celebrate the ‘Champagne’ of beers during Cask Ale week
During this year’s Cask Ale week, pubs all over the country will raise a glass to toast Britain’s national drink. To celebrate, The James Monro on Tithebarn Street will be launching a competition to name the top three real ales as voted by customers of the gastropub.
Pub Manager Jess Rhonan says:
“We are asking punters to literally think outside of the wine box. When customers come in for a meal, nine out of ten times they order wine to go with their meal. This is fine, but at times without looking as far as Chile, you can find an abundance of good quality drink right on your doorstep. Cask ale is often referred to as the ‘champagne’ of beers and here at The James Monro we choose ales which have been hand-crafted by our breweries so that they are fresh, natural and with an exceptional full taste. They are delicious and are well worth a try.”
From Monday 29th March to Monday 5th April, The James Monro will be hosting ale-tasting evenings, offering both ale virgins and connoisseurs the chance to taste their range of cask ales completely free of charge. Punters will then be asked to choose their top three for the chance to win a tour of the newly reopened Jennings brewery in the Lake District and a case of Jenning’s Real Ale.
