Chilli Banana on the move!
Cheshire’s authentic Thai restaurant Chilli Banana is on the move to custom-converted two storey premises in the centre of Wilmslow.
For nearly 20 years Chilli Banana has adjoined The Kings Arms pub beside Wilmslow’s main roundabout on the road to Alderley Edge.
But on November 15 it moves to the prime corner site on Water Lane, once occupied by Felicini.
“After nearly two decades of serving Cheshire’s favourite Thai food we are creating an atmospheric piece of Thailand in our very own premises,” say May and Steve Wakefield.
A stylish atrium of Thai lanterns will lead through lounge and bar areas to the dining room’s subtly lit tables and booths overlooking a modern open kitchen. Above it there are private dining facilities for up to 60 people and expansion plans for an upstairs open-air decked terrace overlooking the heart of Wilmslow.
Three thousand handmade bricks have been shipped from Ayutthaya in the Chaophraya valley. Furnishings, teak doors, Thai art and decorations have come 6,000-miles by container ship to guarantee that the Chilli Banana experience is as authentic as possible.
It will complement the genuine traditional home cooking for which Chilli Banana has built a reputation - inspired by the banquets that May Wakefield helped her mother to prepare for their three-generation family in the farming area of Prachinburi Province.
