Cocktail Recipe: The Butterfly Lady at The Laundrette

Since opening in 2013 The Laundrette on Chorlton’s Beech Road has built quite the reputation for their contemporary quirky menu of pizzas, burgers and salads in relaxed surroundings; both indoors and on their sunny terrace.

But it’s not just the food which has driven diners of South Manchester to The Laundrette. The original and ever-changing cocktail menu full of classics and homemade creations has quite a draw too.

One of their most popular inventions recently is ‘The Butterfly Lady’ which is a delicate gin based cocktails served in a coupette similar to the traditional Champagne saucer. Priced at £7.50, this cocktail is an original recipe from The Laundrette’s cocktail queen Rebecca Bevla who has taken inspiration from the classic White Lady cocktail.

To help you recreate this floral cocktail which has notes of rose with white chocolate, Rebecca has put together the recipe.

25ml Portobello Road Gin
25ml Mozart White Chocolate Liqueur
15ml Lemon juice
20ml Rose Water
15ml Gomme syrup
Dash of egg white

Shake and fine strain, top with rice paper butterflies.

As it is a subtle twist on the classic, it has a delicate flavour and smooth texture – perfect for one of The Laundrette’s desserts. If you can’t wait until dessert however, it also pairs well with one of their Chorizo and Birds Eye Chilli Pizzas for a good contrast.
