Winds of Change at the Windmill
It is a case of New Year, new manager at popular Cheshire fine dining pub The Windmill. Abby Clarkson, who has been assistant manager for the last six months, takes over on January 1 and says she cannot wait to welcome customers old and new to the Whiteley Green gem.
She has plenty of experience in "the trade" having worked for a number of small independent restaurants as well as the Hard Rock Cafe and the popular Carluccio’s deli chain. Abby said: "Although I have been in the industry since I was 18, this is my first venture out into the pub world. I really can't wait to get started."
Meanwhile, the annual Windmill Ale Sale is running from Friday January 7 to Sunday January 9. This will be the third year running for the event, which has become more and more popular every year, so staff at The Windmill are looking forward to this being the best yet.
All pints of local ale, supplied by the Storm Brewery based in Macclesfield will be £2.50 all weekend and there will have a variety of different bitters from the brewery to try over the course of the weekend. Chilli and Hotpot will also be on the menu all weekend at only £8.95.
As well as the beer and the food, The Windmill will have live music on every night, with local bands Dazed & Confused playing on Friday, Heartwood on Saturday and Under the Wire on Sunday. Abby said: "We always have a great time and it will be a good chance for me to welcome new customers to the pub with some great ales, top food and excellent live music."
Set in nearly 1½ acres of the Cheshire countryside, The Windmill at Whiteley Green is located off the A523 between Poynton & Macclesfield just a few yards from Bridge 25 of the Macclesfield Canal and the Middlewood Way.
