Mel headed over to The Yellow Broom and met up with Russell Burns; Head Chef and Proprietor at the modern restaurant in the Cheshire countryside with his wife Nathalie.
What is your name? Russell Burns.
What is your current position? Chef patron.
And your restaurant is called? The Yellow Broom.
How long have you been cooking? 37 years.
Tell me about your current menu. We have launched a light lunch menu Monday to Friday with classic salads, crepes and interesting sandwiches. Our dinner menu is focused on simple grills and fabulous traditional dishes.
What's your most popular dish on the menu? Crab, leek and gruyere tart.
Where's the tastiest meal you've ever had? Veal T-bone steak in Majorca roasted with Rosemary and rock salt.
Where is your favourite restaurant? L'osteria Di Giovanni, Palma Majorca.
Would you ever go on Masterchef or go down the celebrity chef route? Once appeared on Roll the Dice.
What do you think of the Michelin stars - is this the ultimate goal? It must be very rewarding for any chef to achieve such recognition.
Who does the cooking at home? KFC, Ronald McDonald and Nandos.
Have you any guilty pleasures when it comes to eating bad food? I do like ketchup!
10 years from now, where will you be? Still enjoying running our restaurant.
Any tips for budding wannabe chefs? Keep it simple and fresh.
If you could work for any chef, who would it be? Bernard Faraut, the Executive Chef at The Midland, Manchester in the eighties - loves parsley!
You're in an all you can eat - what do you go for first? Sweet corn.
