IZAKAYA Sushi Liverpool was founded in January 2016 by Harry Marquart, Kurt Wilson and Gabriella Rose King. They shared a passion for Sushi, Japanese Cuisine and culture but found that it was looked upon to be pretentious and upmarket in Liverpool. They went on to master the art of Japanese cooking, Sushi and to learn more about the Japanese way of life.
Izakaya originated from sake shops where customers could stay for drinking in the Edo period (1603-1867). Somewhere Liverpool Sushi lovers should find haven.
What's the reason for this seclusion between restaurant and IZAKAYA?
Well, we are a scouse version of a Japanese drinking den. IZAKAYA's are places to come and drink & eat in equal quantities. Our menu is small but everything is made fresh and our drinks list has been chosen to compliment the food menu.
We don't confess to be totally traditional although our owners have visited Japan and researched the culture and more importantly, the food, extensively.
The aim was to introduce casual Japanese dining to Liverpool, where people could feel comfortable and confident to try new things.
So if you're looking for fresh Sushi in Liverpool or a Japanese inspired food & drink establishment, then we think we are your place to visit. Come and see us...
