About Iznik Restaurant

This long established Turkish restaurant on Highbury Park takes its name from an ancient Turkish town known for its richly decorated pottery. This is reflected in Iznik's evocative interior of dark wood, bright pink walls, floral tiling and multi-coloured glass lanterns. The menu draws on traditional cooking of the Ottoman empire including a wide range of mezze starters, many are vegetarian in fact Iznik has won accolades from the Vegetarian Society for its vegetarian provision. Mains include Vine Leaves stuffed with rice, pine nuts, raisins and herbs (£7.50), Yogurtlu kebab, marinated lamb in a tomato and chilli sauce with yogurt dressing, served on pitta bread (£9.50) and Cipura, an Izmir delicacy of grilled Gilthead bream (£11.95). Finish this authentic experience with a fragrant Turkish coffee and honey sweet Baklava (£3.50).
