About The Punter
Having undergone painstaking refurbishment, the Punter now has two bars, a warm and relaxing lounge and an oak-panelled dining room that boasts its own courtyard. The décor is charmingly rustic and sets the tone for the food; the daily-changing menu features dishes such as sea-bass with potato-cake and cabbage, green-pea risotto and confit de canard with braised red cabbage. This is good, old-fashioned robust cooking: no frills and plenty of flavour. The wine list has almost a hundred wines and a classy selection of beers. At an average of £35 a head for a three-course meal, this is one gastro-pub that?s well worth a punt.
